John 26:22 – So he called it’s name Rehoboth, saying, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”
Psalm 18:19 – He brought me out into a spacious place, he rescued me, because he delighted in me.
Lord God, how good it is to be your child and freed from slavery. Contention is so binding and constricting. I hate it. I hate how my sinful nature constantly wars against the good desires that you fill me with. I hate how I am constantly at war with my sinful nature and with others who have the same nature as I do. There is no rest. There is no peace. Ah, but Lord, you have brought me out into a spacious place on the plain with nothing but peace and joy. I can sit on my front porch and gaze out at the landscape because you, Lord, have set me free from slavery and oppression. There are no sins to condemn me. There are no expectations to meet. There is no kingdom to attain. You, Lord, have given me the deed to all of these things. You’ve given me walking papers, setting me free from judgment and condemnation. You’ve given possession of all this, to enjoy. Lord, thank you! Thank you for the peace you give me as your son and heir of eternity. Amen.
