Coming in Weakness

Genesis 24:12 – And he said, “O LORD, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham.”

Lord God, so often in my prayers I am trying to bend your will to mine, to get you on the same page as me. I want you to do such and such for me. But, God, I know my wisdom and insight.  I don’t have the full picture when I pray. I also know, O Father, my capability and ability.  I am keenly aware of my weakness.  Abraham’s servant had no ability to bring Rebekah home; that had to come from you.  Any success that I have today is yours.  It will only come to me because of your gracious gifting.  O Lord, help me to see that you are the cause behind every effect, the one who brings all things to pass.  Teach me to pray and work, trusting you to work all things out by your power and because of your steadfast, eternal love for me.  Amen.

Obedience is mine.  Outcome is God’s.
