Integrity

Proverbs 2:12-22, Psalm 15-18

Psalm 15:1-2 – O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?  Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart.

Lord God, you ask a really important yet difficult question in this psalm – Who can dwell in your presence?  Who can come and be with you?  And then you go on to answer the question for me – it’s a person of integrity and character.  It’s a person who consistently and diligently lives by the standards of your will and your word.  It’s a person who is always the same child of God wherever they go; it doesn’t matter who is around.  They are always the same.  They are unaffected by the judgments of people.  They are unaffected by internal fears or feelings. What they think in their heart is good; what they do in their life is good.  Lord Jesus, I want to be like this.  Keep working on me and in me so that I am a man of your Word who follows your will even when it is hard.  Make me a man of integrity and character no matter where I am or who I am with.  Make me like the person you describe in this psalm by the integrity and character of your Son.  Give me his status and standing.  And then, also shape my heart and life by his character and integrity so that this status I have before you becomes the way that I live and act in this world and toward the people around me.  Amen.
