“Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, ‘Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? … Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:13-18

Dear Heavenly Father, Long before we were born you resolutely decided that you were going to sacrifice your own Son to save my soul. I love how you led these three men to resolutely decide to follow you, honor and worship you above all other men and gods. I want that pre-life resolution. Before my day ever starts I resolve to follow and worship you alone. I know this will be tested. Make me strong in my appreciation of grace so I follow you in every circumstance without regard for the opinions of consequences that other people produce. Help me shine for you before all people so they seek you and find you because of my spiritual holy stubbornness. Amen.

The decision to live only for God is best made before the other offers come.
