“I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you.  I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare.  For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.  But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.  I hope, therefore, to send him as soon as I see how things go with me.  And I am confident in the Lord that I myself will come soon.”  Philippians 2:19-24

Dear Jesus, I love the example you gave us in Paul, so willing to share his closest friends with others.  I find an inertia in my being that wants to hang on to friends and the attention they bring.  I can easily get jealous and resent the time they spend with others.  It’s hard to admit but it’s true.  I repent of such self-centeredness.  Give me the kind heart that Paul had so I learn to share people with people that need them more than me.  Help me to look for ways to encourage others network for the benefit of all.  Make me a benevolent member of the community of faith and of this world.  Amen.

Sharing people is one of the most powerful acts of kindness we can do.
