“After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: ‘Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” John 17:1-5

Dear Jesus, Everyone else thinks of power and control when they speak of authority over the whole earth. But you speak of blessing and eternal life. Your authority was earned by your complete and perfect sacrifice. It is expressed in your complete and perfect rescue of my life. I am safe forever because you came and took over the world to make it cooperate in your redemptive plan. I am so thankful to know your Father and you. You have made me your own and I am yours. Help me to glorify your authority over all creation today by living a happy and peaceful life no matter what I must face. Amen.

We all follow something bigger than ourselves. It’s best to choose Jesus rather than lesser things.
