“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin.  But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.”  1 John 2:1

Dear Heavenly Father, I see two great themes here that are the foundation under my life.  The first is that there is moral truth that you don’t want me to sin against it.  I know you created me to be good and loving.  But I fail at it so much.  That’s why the second theme is so comforting.  What better words can I hear than, “But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father?”  So, today I both want to do right in every relationship and I bask in grace and forgiveness for not being perfect.  Your grace makes me want to try even harder to be a good person but not because I think I earn your love.  It’s because I’m so thankful that I already have it.  Oh, Lord, make me a blessing today.  Amen.

Grace and truth are the sun and moon of all true spirituality.
