“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Lord God, I am beginning to see once again how hard it is for a person to stay faithful to you their whole life. I am beginning to see how difficult it is for faith to be passed on from one generation to the next. Lord God, help me, my family, my children, and my church daily make this commitment to you, to follow you and to serve you with all our might. Teach us to repent and to repent again on a daily basis. Keep on reminding us of all your goodness and then remind us again. Lord God, we will not stay faithful to you on our own. I beg you, finish the work that you began in me at my baptism and keep me, my family, my church, and all your people committed and faithful to you until the very end of their life’s journey. Then, dear Lord, bring us into our home in heaven. Amen.
