"Though we speak in this way, yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things—things that belong to salvation. For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do. And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises." - Hebrews 6:9-10
Dear Lord, I hear comfort and yet urgency in your words above. First of all, I am comforted that you look down from heaven and see my struggle to love and serve people for you. You are pleased with any meager fruit produced by faith through me. Secondly, I hear the urgency with which you call me to take my faith life seriously as the most important part of my life. Oh Father, work in me the desire and the power to live a godly life, so my life will be a thank offering to you and your Son. Do not leave me stranded to take on my temptations by myself. I need you every hour to be my strength and my shield. AMEN
God yells at us because we are his starters not the benchwarmers.
